It’s Starting To Look Alot Like …

SPRING!!!  Wow, what an amazing weekend!  It was one of those weekends you finish up and think “Wow, I got a lot of stuff done this weekend”.

We spent Saturday working in the yard.  Emily was a HUGE help with pulling weeds.  We also trimmed back shrubs, mowed the lawn and fertilized to make the house look good for Emily’s birthday party in a few weeks.  The house looks AWESOME!

We spent Sunday afternoon at the park with Aunt Michelle.  We had another excellent picnic with play time at the park  with pictures to show for it.

I spent Sunday evening practicing my new hobby — hanging curtains.  Yeah, I know, it’s about time I trade in my “guy card” but I have to say I’ve grown really fond of hanging curtains. I spent my Sunday afternoon at Dan and Lanie’s house.

So here’s the thing… When it comes to electrical or low voltage wiring, I’m your guy but I’ve always been scared of curtains or appliance repair.  In the last month, I’ve hung 8 sets of curtains in two different homes and fully dismantled my oven to replace the ignition.  So if curtains or appliance repair scares you I pass on this word of advice —  If you put your mind to it, you can acomplish anything.  Bonus points if you can identify what movie that’s from.

Have a wonderful week and thanks for reading.

Will You Be My Valentine?

This blog entry is brought to you by the folks at Bed Bath and Beyond.  In the slew of curtain hanging in our home, we purchased curtains on clearance to find one panel 2″ too long.  Yes, 2″!  In all my life I have never had this kind of passion for curtains.  Upon a second visit to Bed Bath and Beyond we found what we needed and balance was returned to our living room. :)  The house is really coming along.  I’ll have to take pictures and post them soon so you can take a look.

We started our Valentine’s Day with some heart shaped blueberry waffles = YUM!  Yes, they were delicious!  Let me just share how much I love three day weekends.  We’ve had some amazing weather so we were able to get out of the house and enjoy a picnic in Twin Oaks Park in Rocklin.  We had a great time with the kids, ate some lunch and took some fun pictures.

ENJOY!

Daddy Daycare Weekend …

I had a wonderful weekend with the kids!  Jennifer enjoyed some MUCH needed time off on Saturday so it was me and the kids.  We ate, drank beer, watched football and sat in our underwear.

Ok, so maybe not all of above but you get the idea.  It really was a awesome day.  A comment on my Facebook got me thinking though.  Why is it called “Daddy Daycare” when dad watches the kids and “Life” when mom does it?  With that said, I’d like to retract earlier comments made about “Daddy Daycare” and instead call it “Daddy Daughter and Son Time”.  Doesn’t have the same ring but you get the point.

Baby GirlI was looking through some old photos and found the picture at right.  I can hardly remember a day without Emily (and Ethan of course) in my life.  This photo was taken late March of 2007.  I was in love with her the first time I saw her.

If I could find a way to freeze time (or at least slow it down), I’d be a happy man! :)

WOW!

Yeah, I know, not a very creative title for today’s Blog entry … What a busy few weeks. The holidays are done and I have about 15lbs. of muscle to show for it! The muscle I speak of is around the mid section. :) I guess that’s what happens when you have multiple servings of pie, cake, ice cream, muffins, cookies, etc, etc, etc …  Ever heard of the freshman 10?  I am suffering from the holiday 15.  The good news … I’ve been watching my intake and I’m happy to report that 11 of my 15 lbs have disappeared!!!

logo_hgtv_colorDespite weight gain, it was a AWESOME holiday season in the new house!!! I’ve gotten a ton of ideas from my friends at HGTV.

We’ve painted the exterior, added curtains in the kitchen, great room and the dinning room. All in all, the house looks fantastic!

The kids are doing wonderful.  Ethan is talking a lot more.  Emily continues to talk (and talk back). :) Staying healthy has been the single biggest challenge.

Emily recently got over a ear infection… Like clock work, 2 days later Ethan is now battling a DOUBLE ear infection = OUCH!  That’s all for now…
