It’s been awhile since I took out my Canon 40D and 50mm prime f1.8 lens… Wait, scratch that, I took the kids out for some fun AND my Canon 40D with my 50mm prime f1.8 lens.  We headed to Old Town Sacramento and took in the sights.  The Sacramento Jazz Jubilee was in full swing so music could be found on each and every street corner.

We took the kids on a ride on the train.  They LOVED it!  Check out the pics and enjoy!

The fun actually began last week when Ethan had an accident at daycare that cracked his two upper central incisors.  Yes, I had to look that up (aka. his two front teeth).  :)

He saw the dentist late last week and they were able to fix the teeth this morning.  Nothing too major except it was classified as oral surgery since he had to undergo anesthesia.  Me and Jen spent most of the day padding the walls since Ethan likes to climb on EVERYTHING!  Yes, we know, boys will be boys.  That doesn’t change the fact we don’t want him to damage anymore of his teeth.

Switching gears slightly, Ethan said something this weekend that made me light up like a candle.  On Sunday he said “I Love You”.  His speech is soooooo clear, it’s absolutely amazing!  He’s brilliant, he is my son is he not?

This weekend has been anticlimactic.  We found an amazing deal on ceramic pots for the front of the house (see photo).

It’s suppose to rain today so I’m affraid we don’t have any great outdoor plans.  However today kicks off MY BIRTHDAY WEEK.  Yes, I am 29 once again!  We’re planning a trip to John’s Incredible Pizza later this week with the kids.  It’s funny how things change.  Jennifer asked me where I wanted to go for my birthday and the first thing that came to mind was some place fun for the kids.

I’ve been known from time to time to crave “techie gadgets”.  I don’t remember what Jennifer said to me the day I told her I wanted to buy a digital SLR and it probably doesn’t matter but she said something funny to me on the way home from our Saturday adventure today.  She said, “If I ever gave you a hard time about wanting a digital SLR, I’m sorry, this was a great purchase”.

So I dedicate these photos to my wife.  With just 13 days left until my birthday, can I have a pressure washer?

Nothing like enjoying a good meal.  Ethan has been in rare form lately.  He says (as clear as day) “Hi Da Da”.  I sometimes mistake him for Emily.

Today marked another first.  We had a family picnic and thanks to Aunt Michelle, we flew kites for the first time!!!  Emily loved it.  She kept saying “look daddy, I’m doing it”.  I would respond with, “excellent job pumpkin, you’re awesome”.  The rest of the day she couldn’t stop telling me how “awesome” I was.

Ethan has been talking like crazy since Grandma and Grandpa were in town.  He now says (clearly) Yellow, Purple, Ball, Baby, Door, Dora, Bubbles, Thank You, Emmy, Airplane, NO and the list goes on and on.  It’s adorable!

We spent Saturday working in the yard.  Emily was a HUGE help with pulling weeds.  We also trimmed back shrubs, mowed the lawn and fertilized to make the house look good for Emily’s birthday party in a few weeks.  The house looks AWESOME!

We spent Sunday afternoon at the park with Aunt Michelle.  We had another excellent picnic with play time at the park  with pictures to show for it.

I spent Sunday evening practicing my new hobby — hanging curtains.  Yeah, I know, it’s about time I trade in my “guy card” but I have to say I’ve grown really fond of hanging curtains. I spent my Sunday afternoon at Dan and Lanie’s house.

So here’s the thing… When it comes to electrical or low voltage wiring, I’m your guy but I’ve always been scared of curtains or appliance repair.  In the last month, I’ve hung 8 sets of curtains in two different homes and fully dismantled my oven to replace the ignition.  So if curtains or appliance repair scares you I pass on this word of advice —  If you put your mind to it, you can acomplish anything.  Bonus points if you can identify what movie that’s from.

We started our Valentine’s Day with some heart shaped blueberry waffles = YUM!  Yes, they were delicious!  Let me just share how much I love three day weekends.  We’ve had some amazing weather so we were able to get out of the house and enjoy a picnic in Twin Oaks Park in Rocklin.  We had a great time with the kids, ate some lunch and took some fun pictures.
