Will You Be My Valentine?

Posted in Adorably Random | Comments Off on Will You Be My Valentine?

This blog entry is brought to you by the folks at Bed Bath and Beyond.  In the slew of curtain hanging in our home, we purchased curtains on clearance to find one panel 2″ too long.  Yes, 2″!  In all my life I have never had this kind of passion for curtains.  Upon a second visit to Bed Bath and Beyond we found what we needed and balance was returned to our living room. :) The house is really coming along.  I’ll have to take pictures and post them soon so you can take a look.

We started our Valentine’s Day with some heart shaped blueberry waffles = YUM!  Yes, they were delicious!  Let me just share how much I love three day weekends.  We’ve had some amazing weather so we were able to get out of the house and enjoy a picnic in Twin Oaks Park in Rocklin.  We had a great time with the kids, ate some lunch and took some fun pictures.

Yeah, I know, not a very creative title for today’s Blog entry … What a busy few weeks. The holidays are done and I have about 15lbs. of muscle to show for it! The muscle I speak of is around the mid section. :) I guess that’s what happens when you have multiple servings of pie, cake, ice cream, muffins, cookies, etc, etc, etc …  Ever heard of the freshman 10?  I am suffering from the holiday 15.  The good news … I’ve been watching my intake and I’m happy to report that 11 of my 15 lbs have disappeared!!!

logo_hgtv_colorDespite weight gain, it was a AWESOME holiday season in the new house!!! I’ve gotten a ton of ideas from my friends at HGTV.

We’ve painted the exterior, added curtains in the kitchen, great room and the dinning room. All in all, the house looks fantastic!

The kids are doing wonderful.  Ethan is talking a lot more.  Emily continues to talk (and talk back). :) Staying healthy has been the single biggest challenge.

Emily recently got over a ear infection… Like clock work, 2 days later Ethan is now battling a DOUBLE ear infection = OUCH!  That’s all for now…

It seems like only yesterday I was looking for the best deal on a pint of beer and now I spend double the time looking for the best deal on diapers. Why didn’t anyone tell me this goes by so quick? With Christmas 11 days away, it’s AWESOME to see the excitement build in Emily! Yesterday we went to the California Auto Museum for Family Fun Day and we had a great time making ginger bread cookies, cards and spending one on one time with Santa!!! Emily just LOVES Santa and to my surprise, so does Ethan!

I spent last night improving my Christmas lights display.  I added over 1,000 (no joke) lights to the trees in the front yard.  I sure hope I can get them down at the end of the season.  I know one thing, PG&E is VERY merry this holiday season.

It’s our first Christmas in the new house so we’re excited for the big day!!!  Grandma, Grandpa and Aunt Kee Kee are coming into town next week so that’s when the real fun begins.

thekidsandunclepaulWhat a great holiday weekend!!! Uncle Paul came up for Thanksgiving and stayed most of the weekend. The kids absolutely loved having him around.

We spent most of Sunday decorating, the house looks great!  I even took on the challenge of putting Christmas lights on the new house.  The first year is always the hardest since I installed hooks on each rafter to make installation easier in the future.  I haven’t made it up to the second story — yet. :)

As I reflect on Thanksgiving I have so much to be thankful for.  The old house went on the market 30 days ago, had an offer in 8 hours and closed escrow in 27 days.  We’re officially back to one mortgage payment. :)  More importantly, my adorable babies have me smitten.  Seeing Christmas through Emily’s eyes is AWESOME!  She already knows what she wants to ask Santa for… a pink “bike-o-wheel” (tricycle).

This is definitely my FAVORITE time of year.

Check out the video of me and Uncle Paul teaching Ethan how to play Ms. Pacman!

Five Years Ago…

… we moved into our first home in Roseville.  Five years, two kids, one dog (RIP Ollie) and a new house, it’s amazing how much can change in a short time.

cv28So the big challenge I have this season is putting Christmas lights on the new house. I’ve never put lights on a two story before.

Do I get on the roof, buy a tall ladder or rent a scissor lift? My buddy Dan suggests I put hooks up and buy a long painters pole. That’s fine and dandy but how do I get the hooks on the house? I guess I could hire someone but let’s face it, I want to be able to do this year after year so I need to figure out a system.

Any thoughts?

That’s all I got for now. :)
