How Times Have Changed

pa13451163659Last night marked the first wedding anniversary we’ve celebrated with both kids.  Last year, we had a nice dinner at the Melting Pot.  Grandma was in town since we were a few weeks from Ethan’s due date.  This year we weren’t as lucky with finding a sitter so we took the kids with us.  We didn’t do Melting Pot, instead we had some good BBQ at Lucille’s in Rocklin.

Our dinner together was a reminder of what was put in motion on October 5, 2002.  7 years later I continue to thank God for Jennifer and my adorable family.

That’s my sappy moment for the day. :)

Washing Daddy’s Truck

Ethan continues to walk like crazy.  Each day he gets more and more brave.  2 steps has turned into 4, 6 and sometimes even 8!

Many of you know that I love my truck.  I have a certain routine where I wash my truck each and every weekend.  Last weekend I invited Emily to come outside and help me and she loved it.  She had SOOOOO much fun she jumped at at the chance to help me again this weekend.  Jennifer grabed the camera and caught some video of Emily teaching us how to wash the truck.

As I start my second day back at work I can’t help but think what a great time we had with the kids in Monterey.  On Saturday we took the kids to the beach for the first time and the look on Emily’s face was priceless!  I shot over 500 photos, 50 of which I’ve uploaded.  Can you believe I filtered 500 down to 50?  Believe me, it was difficult.

We also drove down the coast to visit Pebble Beach to shoot the back 9… ok, who am I kidding, my golf swing is TERRIBLE and I’d never be seen playing at Pebble Beach.  You’ll find me shanking balls at the Diamond Oaks driving range.  If you’re curious about my amazing drive, ask my father-in-law about the demo I damaged last time we went out together.  So I may suck at golfing but photography is something I can sink my teeth into.  The conditions were AWESOME for picture taking on Saturday.  I took pictures of Ethan at the 18th hole of Pebble Beach with his back to the ocean that I am in love with.

After a wonderful extended weekend we made the trek home on Sunday.  We watched Finding Nemo, 10 Curious George Episodes, 10 minutes of an Elmo DVD and one Dora.  THANK YOU THANK YOU MR. DVD PLAYER — you made traveling with the kids so WONDERFUL!  :)

Now back to the grind.

I need to soak up all I can right now because the two kids can’t get enough of each other.  I’m sure this will be short lived and eventually these two will fight and argue.  I put Emily in the crib with Ethan this morning and the two jumped like little monkeys.  It was VERY cute. Me and Jennifer had another night out without the kids.

One of Jennifer’s childhood friends got married in Loomis.  It was the first wedding we’d been to since having kids.  I didn’t know the couple but it was interesting watching the father give away the daughter.  Even though I have  MANY years to wait, I couldn’t help but think about what it would be like to give away Emily.  As far as I’m concerned, there’s no man good enough for my Emily.

Fourth of July Fun in Lake Tahoe

All good things must come to an end.  We just got home from our little weekend getaway in Lake Tahoe.  The last time we saw fireworks in Tahoe it was 9 YEARS AGO, it’s hard to believe it’s been that long!

We started our weekend with a quick detour.  My fiend Chuck has a cabin at Donor Lake so we stopped to pay a visit and get in a quick swim.  It was A LOT of fun and a great surprise.  Then it was off to Tahoe!

The kids did well.  Ethan was his normal smiley self while Emily was happy and pleasant most of the time.  She did great UNTIL it was time for bed last night.  Can someone say OVER STIMULATED? :) Ethan lay awake; peaceful in Mommy’s arms while Emmy sat in my lap for most of the show.  She loved the pretty colors but wasn’t terribly fond of the “boom boom” of the fireworks.

All in all it was a wonderful weekend with the kids.  I think we settled on a new family tradition!
