Double Ear Infection

Posted in Adorable Ethan, Adorable Life | No Comments »

Poor boy!  Ethan has ANOTHER double ear infection.  He’s been on antibiotics since Friday so he’s feeling a lot better today.  Nonetheless, it’s still hard to see him in pain.

img_0844This weekend has been anticlimactic.  We found an amazing deal on ceramic pots for the front of the house (see photo).

It’s suppose to rain today so I’m affraid we don’t have any great outdoor plans.  However today kicks off MY BIRTHDAY WEEK.  Yes, I am 29 once again!  We’re planning a trip to John’s Incredible Pizza later this week with the kids.  It’s funny how things change.  Jennifer asked me where I wanted to go for my birthday and the first thing that came to mind was some place fun for the kids. :)

It’s Starting To Look Alot Like …

SPRING!!!  Wow, what an amazing weekend!  It was one of those weekends you finish up and think “Wow, I got a lot of stuff done this weekend”.

We spent Saturday working in the yard.  Emily was a HUGE help with pulling weeds.  We also trimmed back shrubs, mowed the lawn and fertilized to make the house look good for Emily’s birthday party in a few weeks.  The house looks AWESOME!

We spent Sunday afternoon at the park with Aunt Michelle.  We had another excellent picnic with play time at the park  with pictures to show for it.

I spent Sunday evening practicing my new hobby — hanging curtains.  Yeah, I know, it’s about time I trade in my “guy card” but I have to say I’ve grown really fond of hanging curtains. I spent my Sunday afternoon at Dan and Lanie’s house.

So here’s the thing… When it comes to electrical or low voltage wiring, I’m your guy but I’ve always been scared of curtains or appliance repair.  In the last month, I’ve hung 8 sets of curtains in two different homes and fully dismantled my oven to replace the ignition.  So if curtains or appliance repair scares you I pass on this word of advice —  If you put your mind to it, you can acomplish anything.  Bonus points if you can identify what movie that’s from.

Have a wonderful week and thanks for reading.

Gobble Gobble

Gooble GoobleWow, what a month!  I can’t believe how long it’s been since my last blog entry…

Tomorrow marks the first 30 days in the new house and things are finally starting to come together.  We still have a few boxes that need attention but we’re unpacked (for the most part).  We’re in the process of removing the last items from the old house so that’s fun.

The kids are amazing as always.  Emily has mastered the art of potty training.  The “marshmallow” incentive seems to be driving things along.  I’m proud to say we only had one accident this past week.  We need to work on the overnights, but in time that will come.

Ethan is doing wonderful too.  When asked where Mommy, Daddy or Sissy is, he points and smiles.  We can tell he REALLY wants to talk.  At this point he points at things he wants and shakes his head no when “we have it all wrong”. :)

Life is good.

Wallpaper Fun

Posted in Adorable Life | No Comments »

wallpaper1Why do people put up wallpaper in the first place?  I mean no offense to those of you that like wallpaper but for anyone wanting to remove it, I now feel your pain.  I spent most of my weekend removing wallpaper from Emily and Ethan’s room in the new house.  It left behind some nasty glue/residue so if you have any advice on the best way to remove it, I’m all ears.

Beyond removing wallpaper, I did alot of little projects around the new house.  I spent 5 years doing projects at “the old house” to customize it and now I get to start all over again.  I’ll be painting most of the week, carpets get cleaned on Thursday and then we move in on Saturday… Good Times!

Grandma, Grandpa and Aunt Katie visited from down south and the kids had a GREAT time.  We’ve hit that stage with Emily where she gets really sad when they leave.  It was a rough Sunday morning when they left but otherwise a great weekend.

How Times Have Changed

pa13451163659Last night marked the first wedding anniversary we’ve celebrated with both kids.  Last year, we had a nice dinner at the Melting Pot.  Grandma was in town since we were a few weeks from Ethan’s due date.  This year we weren’t as lucky with finding a sitter so we took the kids with us.  We didn’t do Melting Pot, instead we had some good BBQ at Lucille’s in Rocklin.

Our dinner together was a reminder of what was put in motion on October 5, 2002.  7 years later I continue to thank God for Jennifer and my adorable family.

That’s my sappy moment for the day. :)
