Adorable Family

I am home today with sick kiddos. Ethan had a fever at daycare yesterday and Emmy hasn’t been herself the last few days so I have both kiddos home today.

Me and Emmy are watching Finding Nemo for the first time today. “Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming swimming swimming…” It’s one of my favorite Disney movies but I’m burning out quick here. The funny thing is she doesn’t like any of the scenes in the dentist’s fish tank. She kindly says, “No like it Daddy”. I fast forward and everything’s fine.

In other news, Jennifer had an amazing Emily moment this morning. On her way out to work she said, “I love you Emily”. Without being prompted Emily responded with, “I love you mommy”. Not once but twice. I don’t want to speak for Jennifer but I think that might have been the highlight of her day and week.

I woke up this morning to the sound of Emily calling for Daddy.  I had a feeling she had a bad dream or wanted comfort so I headed to her room to give her cuddle time.  This morning was one of the moments where I take a “mental snapshot”.  As we laid nose to nose I sat in amazement at how amazing she is.  She feel fast asleep while I sat awake looking at her.

I’ve added new pictures of Ethan and Emily seeing the Christmas tree for the first time.  We braved the weather this year and made the trip to Home Depot in Roseville.  Yeah, we didn’t have the “cut down a Christmas Tree” experience but we sure got one good looking tree.  At least Emily and Ethan liked it.

I am at home right now while Jennifer makes a Target run.  Emily is fast asleep in dream land while Ethan swings back and fourth while he catches a snooze.  Perhaps the most beautiful thing happened today while sitting around the dinner table.  Emily said I love you for the first time.  I’m not sure she fully understands what it means yet but hearing those words come out of her mouth split my heart in two pieces.

What an amazing few weeks!  Emily is walking like crazy.  She can’t pull herself up yet without help but she’s getting the hang of it so it won’t be long now.  She has learned the art of trying to keep daddy from going to work.  She actually walks to the door and stands in front of it with her arms blocking it.

Baby boy still doesn’t have a name but is kicking like crazy.  I have yet to feel a kick but Jennifer says they’re hard enough that you can feel them if you touch her belly long enough.  We’ve started plans to do a little redesign of the nursery.  Since they’re sharing a room, we’ll need to change the color.  We’re also adding some “monkey attire” to spice it up.

June was a crazy month for picture taking… I got a new Canon 40D and I’ve shot almost 2000 photos in 2 weeks.  At this rate, I’m gonna need a new hard drive to store all of these.  I’ve uploaded a whole bunch of them so take a look at the photos page for more.
